Back to Kibish

On the way back to Kibish, creeping cautiously
across the black colour of home, I find what we share.
Stripping, unravelling the walls of your skin, the illusion of forms- I am he, as you are he, as you are me, and we are Ethiopians.
Born in the quiet dust of the river bank, an ultimate immigrant, no matter where you are- this is not our home.

A performance-cogitation on violence and the need to belong, our ancestry and the interconnectedness of all living things.
A collective passage back to ourselves.
